Do Not Consent

10 My son, if sinners entice you,

Do not consent.

11 If they say, “Come with us,

Let us lie in wait to shed blood;

Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;

12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol,

And whole, like those who go down to the Pit;

13 We shall find all kinds of precious possessions,

We shall fill our houses with spoil;

14 Cast in your lot among us,

Let us all have one purse”— (Proverbs 1:10-14 NKJV)

In the Proverbs 1:10-14, we are encouraged to not give consent when we are being enticed or tempted. The Oxford dictionary defines "consent" as giving "permission for something to happen."

Sinners or "friends" will entice or present a very desirable and lucrative deal. If you join us and help us steal and murder for money, then we will split our profits with you.

So, what are scenarios that we might find ourselves in with individuals that we call "friends?" Imagine going to a movie theatre with all your close friends and there is no cashier. One of your friends suggest, "let's take some candy and sneak into the movie theater." Most of your friends agree and start grabbing the candy without paying for it.

Can you stand for God and choose Him when everyone else wants to do something else?

Let's be honest, if you're the one person who says "no," then you may be mocked and treated unfairly for doing the right thing. Is it better to walk alone and please God? Or, walk with others and please them?
