God vs. Religious Laws

12 In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds. 13 Then a voice said to him, “Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.” 14 “No, Lord,” Peter declared. “I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.”15 But the voice spoke again: “Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.” Acts 10:12-15 NLT

It doesn’t matter what the law has declared dirty. It matters what God says. If God has made it clean, then it is clean. In this chapter, God is going to send Peter to meet with Cornelius, a Gentile. It was against the Jewish law for a Jewish man to associate with a Gentile. Peter explains to Cornelius “...God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.”

Dear Father, thank you for your Word. In the same way, you corrected Peter about his wrong beliefs, please correct us. Please speak to us through your Holy Spirit. We surrender God. Please take control. In Jesus’ name. Amen
