Sound Wisdom for the Upright!

7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;

He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;

8 He guards the paths of justice,

And preserves the way of His saints.

Then you will understand righteousness and justice,

Equity and every good path. (Proverbs 2:7-9 NKJV)

When we conduct ourselves with integrity (do what's right in public and private), God adds wisdom to us. He gives us an increased ability to learn and apply that knowledge in a correct manner. Also, we are given the ability to understand righteousness and justice. What is the right decision in a complex scenario? What is justice?

A key example is found in 1 Kings 3:16-28. King Soloman is visited by two women claiming to be the mother of a baby boy. In verse 25, "And the king said, 'Divide the living child in two, and give half to one, and half to the other.'"

The first mother begged King Soloman to not cut the child and give him to the other woman. The second mother agreed to cut the child in half.

The true mother would rather give her son up than watch him die.

In verses 27-28, "So the king answered and said, 'Give the first woman the living child, and by no means kill him; she is his mother.' And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice."

In the same manner, God gives us wisdom to handle everyday challenges.

We must live our lives with integrity and standing on God's Word that He will protect us and guide us into all wisdom of justice, fairness, and righteousness.
