God's Mercy and Grace

As they set out, a terror from God spread over the people in all the towns of that area, so no one attacked Jacob’s family.

Genesis 35:5 NLT

God told Jacob to go back home to his father’s house (Gen 31:3). Due to fear, Jacob disobeyed and settled in another land. This disobedience caused the rape of his daughter and sin to penetrate through his family. There were consequences for Jacob’s disobedience, just like there are consequences for our disobedience. But in the midst of our sin and disobedience, God is merciful and graceful. God was still protecting Jacob’s family and made sure they were not attacked by the surrounding nations. God loves us and He wants us to obey Him for our protection. God’s love is constant. He will never leave us or forsake us.

Dear God, thank you for your Word. Thank you for always loving us and protecting us despite our disobedience. Help us to obey you despite fear. Help us to confess our sins and repent. Thank you for your love, grace, and mercy. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
